Dr.
Francis Florio has lived, trained, and worked in New York since his birth in 1948
in Brooklyn. After graduating with honors from New York Medical College in 1975,
Dr. Florio has trained in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, and Urology. He
completed a very active clinical residency at New York University Medical Center
in 1981, where he trained exclusively in Urology at University Hospital, Bellevue
Hospital, the Manhattan Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cabrini Medical
Center, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr.
Florio entered private practice in Urology following the completion of his residency.
He has continued his education, mastering skills in Endourology, Lithotripsy,
Laser and Cancer Surgery, as well as training in the latest Laparoscopic techniques.
He has been at the forefront in learning newer, less invasive procedures for stone
disease, treatment of incontinence, and prostate disorders, including prostate
cancer.
As a full attending in the surgical specialty of Urology at both the New York
Methodist Hospital, and Long Island College Hospital, he holds teaching appointments
as a Clinical Instructor in Urology at both the New York-Presbyterian Medical
Center, and SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn. Dr. Florio is Board Certified
by the American Board of Urology. He holds the American Medical Association's
Physician's Recognition Award in Continuing Medical Education.
Dr.
Florio has enjoyed a distinguished career in Medicine. He has been recognized
as a leading Urologist in his community by his peers, consistently acknowledged
in prestigious publications, such as Castle Connolly's "Top Doctor's: New
York Metro Area", Strathmore's Who's Who, and New York Magazine's "
The Best Doctors in New York ", since its inception in 1998.
